This is Grohmann knives original D.H. Russell design which won the 1958 award. This is a general purpose fixed blade outdoor knife. Great for dressing game. Unique elliptical blade shape lessens cutting drag.
Every Grohmann knife (belt knife) comes with a custom designed top grade leather sheath. All leather sheaths are made of 6 to 8 ounce (170 to 227 gram) steerhide that is glued, stitched and riveted for maximum strength and durability. Each is then oil tanned and polished by hand to give it a beautiful finish.
Grohmann knives are recognized around the world for their exceptional beauty, balance and quality. They have won more than 25 international honors including a display at New York's prestigious Museum of Modern Art.
See the Large Camper in the grohmann knife index to see this model in a flat gind blade.
Carbon Blades: The "Carbon Blade" is a softer steel. It does not hold an edge as well as the "High-Carbon Stainless" blade, however it is easier to sharpen. This is at the expense of it's ability to withstand rust. All knives must be kept clean dry and oiled, however the "Carbon" blade knives have less tolerance for neglect.
Rosewood: Grohmann's classic. By far the most popular handle. Ranging from deep, rosy brown to blonde stripes, each one is quite unique. The wood is plantation grown mainly in East india. Selected for its durability, colour and rich grain, rosewood will always be an excellent quality choice.
Below are the three available handle types. The top one is the Xtra Water-Resistant, the middle is the Rosewood and bottom is the Water Buffalo. Note that exact look of each wood handle will vary due to natural characteristics of wood grain.
Flat Gind Blades: This model is also available in a flat grind. See the Large Camper in the Grohmann knife index. The image below of the #1 Original shows the difference in the blade grinds. The bottom one is the Flat Grind Camper.
