The miyamoto musashi daito swords, arguably the most famous swordmaster in Japanese history, fought more than 60 duels before retiring and writing his famous treatise on swordplay, the Book of Five Rings. Musashi was well above average height and his daito (long swords) was made to match his size. Development of the two-sword style of swordplay, with the daito and wakizashi being used together, is credited to Musashi.
The Hanwei reproduction of the Musashi Dai-sho is faithful to the original down to the famous and distinctive double-ring iron tsubas. The grips are finished with a leather wrap. The oversize Daito has a 30" blade and 15" grip, double pegged to the long tang, while the Wakizashi has a 19" blade and is 26" overall. Mounted in black, the wood scabbard has delicate copper inlays. Truly a masterpiece of the swordmaker's art, the Musashi Dai-sho is a must for every martial artist and collector.
The blade's temper line (o-midari, meaning "turbulent sea") is one of the most beautiful and important features of the Japanese sword; many temper lines are simply etched or ground into a blade and have no functional value but a true temper line indicates that the edge has been independently hardened in the traditional manner.
Both daito swords come with a cleaning kit.
